(Academic Researcher, consultant, practitioner and a trainer in the fields of Landscaping,
Urban greening, floriculture and Turfgrass science)
INTRODUCTION
Rapid urbanization has lead to loss of most of the plants that were around us. Psychologically, being away from the nature, particularly the plants, makes the lives of people miserable. As a result, people again thought of bringing the lost nature back to them in the form of ‘landscaping’. Thus, landscaping has become one of the major inclusions in the present day households. With the rising living standards, people do not hesitate to spend on beautifying their surroundings with some aesthetically pleasing plants and other structures. However, ‘doing-it-right’ in landscaping is a herculean task. Landscaping is not just placing plants and other structures here and there.
